The application process to study in Germany:

1.Find a study program:

Before studying in Germany, the first thing you need to do is search for a program that suits your interest. German universities offer you countless programs. Choose your study program based on your academic goals, plans, and the path you want to walk in. But if you have not set your goals yet, the process will be time-consuming. So it is suggested that you take your time and start thinking about the study program at least three months before deicide. Once you find the study program, then choosing the ideal university for you will be easier.

2.Meet All Requirements:

If you already chose your program and university, cross-check and see if you meet the university’s requirements. Suppose you find anything confusing, never hesitate to contact the university directly. Unsuitable timing and missing documents are the most common issues that happen at this stage. Applications can get delayed or even rejected for this matter. The suggestion is to start working on your documents four months before applying.

3. Learn The German Language;

Your application’s chances of approval vastly depend on your German proficiency, even if your program is in English. Most of the Bachelor’s degree courses are taught in the German language. In contrast, many study programs at higher academic levels are taught partially or entirely in Germany. To interact with the locals, Germany is needed. It is suggested to start a language learning course as early as possible or at least 6months before applying.

4. Find Financial Resources:

 Under the current law, every non –EU and non-EEA student must have proper financial resources to cover their living and studying in Germany. An international student must possess a minimum of €10,332 to cover living and learning costs for the first year.

5.Apply for Admission:

Double-check your documents before applying. Contact your university to know their medium of applying. The application can be submitted online, in person, or by post. Most German universities will have to use a national university online application platform known as Uniassist. 6.Get Your German Student Visa:

German Student Visa is mandatory for international students. Contact the German embassy or consulate in person to make a visa appointment while your documents are processing. One of the easiest ways to convince authorities about your finance is by opening a Blocked Bank Account. A health insurance policy from your country is also mandatory.

7. Find Accommodation:

After getting both the visa and Admission, you must find a place to stay. Accommodation in Germany for international students is relatively affordable. However, it would help if you strived to find a site that is suitable for your finance. You can scout online for accommodations. It would be best to start exploring for Accommodation when you get your student visa.

8. Enroll at Your University:

After settling down in Germany, go to the university of your choice and enroll in your program courses. After Enrollment, you will be a registered student of Germany.

You, need to personally appear at the university administration office and submit the documents listed below to register for your university course.

• Your valid passport

Bangladeshi students must apply for a Type D German visa to study in Germany. This type of visa is particularly suitable for students wishing to study in German universities. UniAssist (UAGE) is working with Germany and helping students guide through the visa and application process.


A Bangladeshi student must be certified by an HSC + 1-year degree in all Universities of Bangladesh to enroll in a German university. The gap of study is accepted for up to 1.5 years. At least 4.00 out of 5.00 GPA is needed in HSC for those who want to go for undergraduate research. For postgraduate students, CGPA 3.00 (minimum) out of 4.00 is a required must.

Depending on the admission requirements, it may be necessary to provide evidence of the language qualifications needed for your study program at the German Embassy or Consulate. IELTS score of 6.5 (minimum) is a requirement for English medium study. For students who want to study in the German language, B2 proficiency is a must need.

Make sure that you have extra time for your visa application. You can start your German Visa Type D / Residence Permit application immediately after acceptance into the university of your choice. Before starting your university program, you should be applying, keeping at least three months in hand. After the university receives the letter of admission and the necessary funds for living and studying in Germany, the best time to apply for a German student visa is immediate. An essential requirement is that you have financial solvency. You must prove the financial resources through other methods, such as having the funds deposited into a German blocked account if you haven’t been awarded an official scholarship. You need to block EUR 10,332 on a personal banking account in the German Bank if you plan to apply to the German University from Bangladesh. When you are in Germany, but monthly, you can withdraw this money.

It takes up to 25 working days to process the German visa. The students must face the viva board to get the visa.
